Logging Glossary: Log External Reference

As I mentioned here,  I started publishing the LogLogic Logging Glossary. So, here is the fifth term (first second third fourth):

Log External Reference

A log or message that requires information not contained in the log to understand the description, fields, values, or format.

The best example is all this stuff in Windows Event logs that requires some funky DLLs to map from numbers to strings.
