« Managing Incidents in Age of Compliance | Main | Logging Glossary: Event »
As I mentioned here, I started publishing the LogLogic Logging Glossary. So, here is the third term (first second):
Log Context Information
The circumstances and conditions which surround a logged event.
It is usually the log time, system the event occurred on, the system that has the log, or some combination. It may contain any set of information the vendor considers relevant. It is usually written at the beginning of a log file or the beginning of a log message.
Context information is most often applied by a system logging API or a log forwarder.
